SATRA showcased at Brazilian fair

A report on SATRA’s successful appearance at one of South America’s largest footwear exhibitions.

SATRA’s recent appearance at the FIMEC exhibition proved to be a successful venture. Based in the Brazilian city of Novo Hamburgo, FIMEC is South America’s largest footwear components exhibition, which also attracts a presence from government associations and footwear machinery suppliers.
Still regarded as a major hub for footwear production, Novo Hamburgo hosts many international and domestic brand offices, sample facilities and development centres.

The SATRA stand in FIMEC was used as a platform to demonstrate some of the key services provided to our members worldwide. Stitching efficiency expert Ray Wisken gave regular demonstrations of the SATRA VisionStitch programme, and Tom Bayes (SATRA’s head of research), made technical presentations to many visitors to demonstrate the unique knowledge and 'problem solving' abilities offered to SATRA members.
An increase in domestic demand has given the Brazilian footwear industry a much-needed boost. Many brands are now seeking to utilise SATRA’s industry-leading test methods to enhance product performance.
Although the event was held in Brazil, visitors to the SATRA stand included many large brand owners and producers from countries such as Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, Argentina and Mexico. Everyone shared a common interest in increasing both production efficiency and technical awareness.

During the show, leading Brazilian fashion brand Piccadilly became the first SATRA member in South America to commit to the installation of the SATRA VisionStitch stitching efficiency system.

Riverland, one of Mexico’s leading safety footwear brands, signed a SATRA membership agreement at the show. As members, they hope that a relationship with SATRA will enable them to enhance their current products and placement in both the domestic and international market.

SATRA’s investment in the 2013 FIMEC show marks the first of many initiatives to increase awareness of SATRA technology and the variety of services available to its members across South America.
