BASF aims for more focused business setup
BASF is re-shaping its business setup to strengthen its long-term ability to compete.
Chemical producer BASF has announced that it is to re-configure its leather and textile chemicals business. The intended result will be an increased focus on the growing Asia Pacific region and high-value-adding applications, such as premium textile and leather products and items for the leather automotive industry. The global research and development activities for both sectors will be located in Shanghai.
“BASF strives to remain the preferred partner of the leather and textile industries for reliable and innovative chemical solutions,” said François Desné, senior vice president of BASF’s leather and textile chemicals global business unit. “We are re-shaping our business setup to strengthen our long-term ability to compete in a rapidly changing market environment.”
BASF is also intending to establish a global innovation centre for leather and textile chemicals, which will be located within the BASF innovation campus in Shanghai.
