SATRA provides an understanding of REACH
On 19th September 2013, SATRA will be holding a seminar in the UK to provide delegates with a clear understanding of the European REACH (‘registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals’) regulation, and how it applies to consumer products.
This legislation came into force in 2007 with the aim of protecting human health and the environment from the harmful effects of hazardous chemicals. REACH applies to every product manufactured or imported into the EU, and has implications for consumer goods – including footwear. All participants in the supply chain have a duty to ensure that products are safe and meet legal requirements regarding the presence of restricted chemicals.
This full-day seminar will provide a clear overview of REACH and a full understanding of the legal obligations involved. The programme will explore what is needed to demonstrate compliance, and will discuss relevant chemicals and specific materials. It will also focus on practical steps for managing substances of very high concern (SVHCs) and restricted substances, and will consider similar legislation in other parts of the world, including China and the USA.
This seminar is essential for personnel working with specifications which must meet restricted substances legislation, as it will help delegates to understand this complex subject.
