SATRA to publish new footwear reference book
SATRA’s new book will prove to be an invaluable aid in understanding the complete production process.
The basic shoemaking series of articles ran in SATRA Bulletin magazine from 2009 to 2012. It prompted numerous requests from our members for this knowledge to be made available in one publication. SATRA is now pleased to announce the publication of the new reference book, Basic Shoemaking, which is scheduled for release in August 2013.
Basic Shoemaking describes and outlines the entire shoemaking process, from pattern cutting to final inspection and boxing. Footwear manufacturing reference works of this nature have appeared occasionally in the past, but the industry opinion has been that an updated version is long overdue.
Written by SATRA experts, each of the 44 chapters takes the reader through a particular stage in the footwear manufacturing process and will be of value to anyone working within the footwear manufacturing sector, including students, designers, developers, technologists, operatives, supervisors, managers and directors. It will also be useful to sourcing companies, retailers and product developers, as well as components and materials suppliers throughout the footwear supply chain.
A publication of this nature is unlikely to be published again in the near future, if at all. Because of this, we have decided to produce an A5 traditional hard cover limited edition book with a high production value.
The cover price to SATRA members is GBP 100, with discount available for multiple copies. Please send an email to basicshoemaking@satra.co.uk stating your full name, member company name, position and contact details and how many copies you would be interested in purchasing.
