Submissions invited for coveted PPE award

Following the success of the SATRA PPE Innovation Awards in 2012, the organisers and SATRA were keen to continue their association to produce the 2014 edition. The SATRA awards will form a major part of the Professional Clothing Awards, which will take place on 1st April 2014 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Nominations will open on 2nd September 2013, and applications will need to be submitted by 15th November 2013. Judging will take place in early 2014, with a combined panel of SATRA and external experts drawn from across the fields of academia, research and testing, manufacturing and commerce.

SATRA Chief Executive, Austin Simmons said: “After the interest shown at the 2012 awards, we are very pleased to be involved again in helping to recognise the hard work and technical innovation that suppliers and manufacturers put into developing PPE products. SATRA has been providing technical knowledge, research and testing since 1919, and it is fantastic to work with an industry that continues to evolve. Every year, we see improved performance levels in safety, comfort and durability and, at the same time, better production efficiency that keeps manufacture costs down and minimises impact on the environment.”

The SATRA PPE Innovation Awards are open to anyone involved in the design, development, production and/or bringing to market of PPE products, components or processes in the protective clothing industry – across all segments and sectors. This could include an individual inventor or entrepreneur, an SME, or a large multi-national corporation. In addition to the trophy prizes, SATRA is offering research, testing and product development opportunities to the overall winner.
