Trevor Edwards takes up Nike presidency
New role includes global brand management.
Charlie Denson, who has served as Nike brand president for the past seven years, is to retire in January 2014. He has already passed the role to current executive vice president of brand and category management, Trevor Edwards. In his new position, Mr Edwards’ responsibilities will involve leading all category and geographic business units, including the Jordan brand, Action Sports, Hurley International, Digital Sport and brand management throughout the world.
In conjunction with Mr Denson’s decision to retire, the Oregon, USA-based company has decided on a number of changes to its executive management team as part of a long-term organisational strategy in order to drive growth. Nike claims that these alterations reflect its focus on the consumer. They are also intended to accelerate innovation within the company, as well as to elevate design, align products, optimise marketing strategies and sharpen focus on its supply chain and manufacturing capabilities.
