Nike planning custom marathon shoe for Mo Farah

Olympic Gold Medalist Mo Farah is to wear a customised Nike shoe in the 2014 London Marathon.

Designers from the US sportswear giant Nike are working on a shoe for Olympic Gold Medalist Mo Farah to wear during his marathon debut in London next year. Staff members watched Mr Farah train in St. Moritz, Switzerland recently as part of what the athlete’s coach Alberto Salazar describes as a ‘million-dollar project’, taking into account travel, testing, research and design costs.

Mr Farah joins an elite group of stars competing in customised footwear provided by a sponsor. As well as Nike, Asics and Skechers have adapted existing shoes to suit the needs of a particular runner.
