GDS and theMICAM revise 2014 show dates

New season products will now be on show several weeks earlier than usual.

Organisers of the GDS footwear and leathergoods fair in Düsseldorf have announced that from 2014 the second edition of the twice-yearly exhibition will take place in July rather than September. This will provide an opportunity for shoemakers to present their spring/summer collections earlier than before. Mirroring this move, theMICAM’s autumn show will open in Milan on August 31st.

Assocalzaturifici President Cleto Sagripanti recently expressed his great respect for GDS, and confirmed his view that the two shows are no longer in competition. The Italian footwear association is also considering both the USA and Russia as potential new venues after it launched theMicam’s Shanghai event in March. A delegation from the organising committee has reportedly flown to the USA to view possible locations.
