Honorary doctorate for Hi-Tec founder
Frank van Wezel’s award was made for his commitment to the global sports industry.
Founder and chairman of global outdoor and sports brand Hi-Tec, Frank van Wezel, has received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration from the UK’s Anglia Ruskin University. The presentation was made during a graduation ceremony at the university’s Chelmsford campus.
Each year, the university celebrates the achievements of individuals who are selected as outstanding in their field and who can serve as role models to university graduates. Dr van Wezel was chosen as a result of his dedication, passion and commitment to the global sports industry.
Born in the city of Vlissingen, Netherlands, Dr van Wezel started Hi-Tec Sports in the UK during 1974, mainly to produce squash shoes. The company’s UK site in Southend-on-Sea, employs some 400 members of staff.
