Columbia Sportswear appoints Europe executive
Franco Fogliato will be responsible for sales, distribution and marketing strategies for a number of brands.
Franco Fogliato has been named as the new senior vice-president for Columbia Sportswear’s European operation, reporting directly to President and Chief Executive, Tim Boyle. In his new role, Mr Fogliato will be responsible for sales, distribution and marketing strategies for the USA-based company’s Columbia Sportswear, Mountain Hardwear and Sorel brands.
Mr Fogliato has gained 17 years of European sales and marketing experience in the action sports, outdoor footwear and apparel industries. For the past nine years, he has served as general manager of Europe for the Billabong Group, as well as working on the company’s executive board. Between 1997 and 2003, Mr Fogliato held various European leadership roles with The North Face, moving up to general manager of Western Europe.
Doug Morse, who has acted as interim general manager of Columbia Sportswear’s Europe-direct business since February 2013 will work with Mr Fogliato until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. He will then relocate to the company’s Portland headquarters in the newly created role of chief business development and strategic planning officer.
