SATRA presents at key Latin American event
Reporting on SATRA’s contribution to the recent ANPIC show in Mexico.
Considered one of Latin America’s largest footwear exhibitions, ANPIC opens its doors in May and November of each year, and is viewed by many companies as a valuable opportunity to make contact with the Mexican footwear industry.
Held at the Poliforum Centre in the city of León, the recent 42nd edition attracted almost 1,200 exhibitors who gathered from 25 countries. Growing year on year, the exhibition is also used as a showcase by suppliers of leather to the furniture and automotive trades, two industry sectors which, together with footwear, have seen considerable increase in recent years. SATRA members exhibiting at the event included Bontex, Coats, Cotexca, Delcam, Groz-Beckert, JBS, Lefarc, Pegamentos Hernan and Shoe Solutions.
SATRA was invited by the organising committee to both exhibit and make a presentation at this three-day event. Various international brands which source from the region were attracted to the SATRA stand, as well as local producers and fellow exhibitors. SATRA’s presentation on comfort was delivered by María Sánchez, in which she explained the fundamental building blocks required to develop and assess comfortable footwear. Her seminar was well attended and resulted in considerable interest from various parts of the footwear supply chain.
“For SATRA, the show was an ideal sounding board which enabled us to explore and develop aspects of the ongoing initiatives aimed at developing our services across Latin America,” commented Ollie Chandler, SATRA’s South American business manager. “This comes at a time where foreign investment in Latin American production is high, and the demand for technical support is increasing. We are grateful to ANPIC for their hospitality and are pleased to report that the show was a great success.”
