New manager for SATRA China office
Liam Donnelly brings considerable experience in the footwear industry to his new role at SATRA.
Having joined SATRA in November, Liam Donnelly is to take up the position of general manager of SATRA’s offices in China in the new year. Born in Liverpool, he went to school in Northern Ireland and returned to Liverpool to study physics at Liverpool University before joining Littlewoods where he trained as a footwear technologist.
Mr Donnelly then joined Bally in Switzerland, and spent three years in the company’s research and development department before moving into production management. In 1986, he returned to the UK to take over as manager of Bally’s UK factory in Norwich.
Seven years later, Mr Donnelly moved to Portugal to manage the production at the ECCO factory near Porto. With the exception of three years spent in India, Portugal has been his home for the last 20 years – initially with ECCO and then as managing director of Clarks Portugal. His time in India was spent at the Forward Group overseeing the building of a new state-of-the-art factory in Chennai. Immediately before joining SATRA, Mr Donnelly was with the Tata Group, where he restructured MoveOn, Tata’s Portuguese-based branded shoe business.
