A delegation led by Dominican Republic government Administrative Minister, José Ramón Peralta, recently attended a multinational meeting of Wolverine Worldwide suppliers in China. Mr Peralta and his team were present in an attempt to win more business from the 144 companies there and to promote the Caribbean country as a footwear manufacturing destination. According to Mr Peralta, government initiatives and the Dominican Republic’s proximity to the USA make it an attractive target for foreign investments.
In addition, the Dominican Republic government has announced that it will provide funding in order to train shoemakers for companies that manufacture products in the country. Currently, more than 30 multinational brands produce footwear there.
