Advisory Board meets in Chengdu

A meeting of the SATRA China Advisory Board (CAB) – hosted by Dr Xubo and Dr Zhou – took place recently in The Leather Building, Sichuan University, Chengdu. Members of the Board were updated on SATRA activities and changes since the last meeting held in November. The new General Manager of SATRA China, Liam Donnelly, was introduced and a presentation was made to outgoing General Manager, Steve Rose and Office Manager, Di Rose, who have returned to SATRA UK.

Dr Xubo and Dr Zhou gave a presentation on GB standards and SATRA’s Chief Executive, Austin Simmons introduced the latest developments at SATRA in 3-D printing. The delegates then had a tour of the Sichuan University’s leather and footwear facilities.

While visiting Sichuan University, SATRA’s chief executive spoke to leather and footwear undergraduates on the subject of developing ‘comfort’ shoes and the tests used to evaluate them. The presentation was given in English and translated into Chinese by SATRA Membership Consultant, Vivien Hsieh.
