Brown Shoe marks century of Stock Exchange listing
The Brown Shoe Company, owner of brands such as Famous Footwear, Sam Edelman, Naturalizer and Via Spiga recently celebrated 100 years of listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Diane Sullivan, chief executive, president and chairman of Brown Shoe Company rang the Exchange’s closing bell to mark the milestone. Ms Sullivan was joined by members of the Brown Shoe Company executive team and the board of directors.
Brown Shoe is only the 24th company to reach the century mark of NYSE listing. The company was founded by George Warren Brown in 1878 in St Louis. Today, it has around 11,000 employees and last year reportedly sold 48 million pairs of footwear under the Brown Shoe brands through its wholesale and owned retail channels.
