EU origin labels soon to be law?
Footwear and other products sold in Europe may soon need ‘made in’ labels.
The compulsory labelling of the origin of footwear, leathergoods and other products sold in the European Union (EU) came closer to becoming law after a recent vote was held in the European Parliament.
The Italian footwear manufacturers’ association Assocalzaturifici and other organisations have worked to convince politicians to force the application of ‘made in’ labels to products on sale in the EU. The Union’s Council of Ministers, which normally consists of the 27 heads of state will now consider approving the legislation.
