US defence official visits Vibram manufacturer
A high-ranking member of the US Department of Defence (DoD) recently visited Quabaug Corporation in Massachusetts – a manufacturing partner of Vibram USA, which is a subsidiary of Italy-based Vibram SpA. Defence logistics agency director Vice Admiral Mark Harnitchek and his staff toured the company to see where footwear soles are produced for all branches of the US military.
Vice Admiral Harnitchek is responsible for the acquisition and supply of commodities, clothing, textiles and other equipment for the DoD. He received an overview of the products manufactured in the plant, including soling for combat boots, military dress shoes, jungle boots and athletic training shoes. The vice admiral also toured the development laboratories and afterwards addressed a gathering of Quabaug employees, including a considerable number of former service personnel. Quabaug employs 250 members of staff and also manufactures rubber surfacing, disc golf products and shoe repair products.
