Nike supports children’s projects
US sportswear producer Nike has donated $300,000 to 28 schools and non-profit organisations through its Employee Grant Fund, which supports projects encouraging children’s physical activity. Over the last four years, the scheme has provided grants of more than $2.5 million within Nike’s home state of Oregon. Members of the company’s headquarters staff act as volunteers on winning projects.
According to Kathy Webb, Nike community impact manager, Nike wants to be an integral part of helping the next generation reach their full potential. She stated that active children have a better record of school attendance, exhibit better concentration and are more likely to go to college.
