Italian footwear manufacturers’ association Assocalzaturifici is presenting schools with awards in a recruitment drive aimed at encouraging young people to join the nation’s footwear industry.
Accolades were recently handed out to students at an exhibition in Verona, where the association had a stand. Graduates of footwear schools in the Veneto and Marche regions discussed their experiences and Assocalzaturifici representatives highlighted the contribution made by the footwear sector to the Italian economy.
According to Cleto Sagripanti, president of Assocalzaturifici, training and professional development are crucial issues to be faced by companies in the Italian footwear industry.
“For years we have been striving to create a system that effectively integrates education, training and work,” he explained. “We firmly believe that the relaunch of the entire manufacturing process in Italy – and, in particular with regard to the footwear sector – is promoted through training and the need to provide local training opportunities tied to the concrete needs of companies.”
