SATRA trains SAFT students in USA

Each SAFT module was led by a SATRA expert.

Orange County – some 20 miles south of Los Angeles, California – was the location for the most recent SATRA Accredited Footwear Technologist (SAFT) training course. The SAFT award is an internationally recognised qualification held throughout the world to meet the demand of members. On this occasion, 14 delegates from eight companies attended the course.

Led by SATRA specialists, each section was covered in detail over a two-day intensive training period, which included comprehensive documentation to support the lecture and practical sessions.

Over a period of 12 days, four SATRA tutors covered the six modules that make up the SAFT syllabus: i) lasts, fitting and comfort, ii) materials and constructions, iii) laboratory testing, iv) pattern cutting/ grading/costing and lean manufacturing, v) quality assurance and risk assessment, and vi) industrial footwear.

The current global, footwear supply chains rely on accurate practical information and the ability of staff to understand and apply such information. In order to help meet this demand, SATRA has designed this training course for all technologists involved in any aspect of footwear production. Once the course is complete, attendees have the opportunity to take optional written examinations to receive SATRA SAFT accreditation.

How can we help?

A SAFT course will also run in the UK at the beginning of March – please visit www.satra.co.uk/events for details.
