Hi-Tec trainer selected for British troops
Footwear manufacturer Hi-Tec Sports UK – owner of the Magnum brand – has announced a successful tender win to become the official supplier of training footwear to the British Ministry of defence (MOD) over the next four years.
According to Hi-Tec Sports UK, the company’s XTS14 shoe was in development for more than two years, and is suitable for intense indoor activities including walking, running, team and ball games, rope work, vaulting and racket sports, as well as weight and circuit training.
In 2012, a slice of the MOD’s £80 million contract to kit out British troops was spent on a Magnum lightweight patrol boot in brown. A year later, Hi-Tec Sports UK secured a contract with the Ministry which led to the Magnum UST outdoor trainer gaining a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) stock number. Also in 2013, Hi-Tec Sports UK secured an order from the Danish Military for the supply of heavy-duty Magnum combat boots.
Hi-Tec Sports was founded in 1974 by Frank van Wezel to produce footwear and apparel for sports and outdoor activities. In 1982, the company launched its Magnum brand of footwear which is sold to law enforcement, military, fire/rescue, emergency medical and service agencies around the world.
