Mexican footwear association broadens its reach
ANPIC – Mexico’s national association of footwear industry suppliers – is changing its name to Apimex while taking steps to encourage a interest from companies in the automotive, aerospace and IT sectors.
According to the body’s president, Carlo Benedetti Cavaliere, this new association will be a business platform to link the country’s supply offering with large multinational enterprises from a variety of sectors that are opening offices in Mexico.
Some 55 per cent of ANPIC’s 240 member companies, including tanners, have diversified into selling their products to carmakers, manufacturers of furniture and jewellery designers, as well as other companies outside the footwear sector. ANPIC reports that eight out of ten of the other members would like to also move into additional markets.
