Shorter lead times for adidas suppliers
Sportswear giant adidas has announced that between now and 2020, its production capabilities are to ‘evolve’ in order to ‘dramatically expand’ product customisation options for customers.
This new strategy is expected to have considerable implications for its material and finished product suppliers. According to the Herzogenaurach, Germany-based company, production lead times will reduce ‘significantly’ and there will be an increase in what it terms ‘in-season creation’, which will affecting the design and manufacture of products.
“Speed will be a key competitive advantage for us,” said adidas chief executive Herbert Hainer. “We are living in a fast-changing world. Only what is new is relevant to the consumer.”
