JBS Couros opens US leather distribution centre
The JBS Group has facilities in various parts of the world.
Brazil-based JBS Couros – said to be the world’s largest supplier of leather and hides – has opened a North American distribution centre as part of the company’s strategy aims to expand its presence in the US furniture market.
According to JBS Couros, the new facility in North Carolina will stock a wide range of leather articles from its tanneries in Asia, Europe and South America. The stated aim is to provide a faster delivery to furniture industry customers in North America. The company also claims that the distribution centre will give it the ability to respond more quickly to changing trends.
The JBS Group is headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. It has 26 tanneries and finishing operations in Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, Uruguay and Vietnam. The company’s leather business reportedly generated revenue of over $1.5 billion last year.
