SATRA hosts university visit
A group of students from the University of Northampton’s Institute of Creative Leather Technologists (ICLT) recently visited SATRA to experience a commercial testing environment. First-year leather technology students attended, along with footwear and fashion design students, and others studying for their masters degrees in leather technology.
During their visit, the students – accompanied by Northampton University members of staff David Sherwood and Alberto Bevilacqua – toured SATRA’s laboratories where they saw a variety of tests being conducted. Presentations were also made on REACH legislation, general product safety, and chemical and physical assessment of leather, in addition to SATRA’s history and the many assessment services available.
SATRA has an ongoing relationship with the university, with Jackie Glasspool, Mark Southam, John Hubbard and Verity Rainbow supervising chemical and physical practical lecture sessions for students studying for their leather technology qualifications.
