Columbia Sportswear is to develop its partnership with the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc endurance event through four of its brands – Columbia, Montrail, Mountain Hardwear and OutDry.
The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc is a mountain ultramarathon run as a single-stage. It takes place annually in the Alps across parts of France, Italy and Switzerland over a distance of 170km. With a total elevation climbed of around 9,600m, it is recognised as one of the most difficult foot races in Europe. This year the event will be held on 26th August, with the field limited to 2,300 competitors.
Having first supported the event last year, Columbia has become the race's main partner. Franco Fogliato, the group’s general manager for Europe, said when announcing the deal: "The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc is an iconic event, bringing together 7,500 participants from more than 80 different countries, all of whom share the same passion for the outdoors as drives our company."
According to OutDry chief executive, Luca Morlacchi, the company has always regarded extreme competitions as an ideal opportunity to demonstrate its waterproof and breathable technology.
