Germany-based adidas AG recently announced that it has purchased a building next to its existing campus in Portland, USA, in order to increase the size of its North American headquarters.
The company's US base has been located in Portland since 1993 and it moved to its current site in 2001. The adidas Village today consists of five buildings that house some 1,200 employees, a figure that has grown from around 850 in 2014. The acquisition of this new property, which measures 25,000 square feet and can accommodate 150 employees will extend the adidas footprint 14 acres.
"We are growing. Our business is up, we're seizing opportunity and we're expanding our visibility in America," said Mark King, president of adidas Group North America. "Our strategy in America is not to simply get incrementally better year over year. We want to move mountains. To do that, we are creating an internal culture of innovation to drive large-scale change," he added.
In a recent earnings report, adidas AG's sales in North America reportedly grew by 11 per cent in Q3 of 2015, and improved by 8 per cent over the first nine months of the year.
