Katie achieves SAFT success

Katie Pruitt, product development manager at California-based Sanuk, recently completed her SATRA Accredited Footwear Technologist (SAFT) examinations and gained accreditation for all five core modules. She was presented with her certificate at Sanuk’s offices by SATRA’s US business manager, James Corton. Sanuk manufactures a wide range of casual men’s and women’s shoes, boots, sandals and slippers, and the company’s products are marketed under the slogan 'never uncomfortable'.

Students on the SAFT course are taught six key areas in footwear production: lasts and fitting, materials and constructions, laboratory test procedures, product design and lean manufacturing, quality assurance and performance/risk assessment, and industrial footwear. Five of these modules are selected for assessment, and an examination pass in each of the chosen subjects is required to gain SAFT accreditation.
