Twenty-five Brazilian shoe producers recently participated in the 4th Commercial Footwear Mission held in Moscow. Organised by the Brazilian shoe manufacturers' association, Abicalçados, the event in the Russian capital had the support of a local matchmaking agency, which scheduled a series of business meetings in addition to a one-day showroom at the Radisson Royal Hotel.
The business mission was part of a market penetration strategy launched three years ago. According to the manufacturers association, the Russian market accounted for 3 per cent of total Brazilian footwear exports during 2015.
"The Russians have a very positive perception of Brazil and its footwear production," claimed Ruisa Scheffe, commercial promotion analyst at Abicalçados. "They are trying to diversify shoe imports and the Brazilian brands have much to offer."
