SATRA certification now available online

Customers wanting to apply to SATRA for certification of personal protective equipment (PPE) can now do so online.

Since 30th June 1995, manufacturers of PPE (which includes all types of safety footwear) have been obliged to follow a defined procedure – including affixing a CE mark to the product before it can be placed on the European market. Part of these defined procedures involve commissioning a third-party organisation such as SATRA, officially known as a 'Notified Body', to carry out an 'EC type-examination'. This includes both product testing and review of technical documentation.

To make this task easier, SATRA has added a facility to its website to enable safety footwear manufacturers to apply online. The system uses an email confirmation system to ensure that all applications are securely validated and directly submitted to the SATRA assessor. For customers with limited internet access or a company policy that prohibits use such online applications, we will still accept traditional application forms – either submitted via email or in hard copy form such as when accompanying the test samples.
