November proved to be a very busy month for SATRA in Bangladesh and India due to our participation in a number of exhibitions and events. These began in the Bangladeshi city of Dhaka, where SATRA exhibited at the Leathertech 2016 fair. This was a three-day event that showcased various products, including machinery for tanning, finishing, footwear production and leatherwear manufacture. SATRA’s presence was on a joint stand with our test equipment distributers, Overseas Marketing Corporation (OMC).

Technical workshops were held in Dhaka and Chittagong

OMC also helped to arrange two technical workshops in Dhaka and Chittagong, which were very well attended with around 125 delegates representing more than 20 companies. We were very impressed by the students from the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, who travelled 12 hours overnight by train to attend. They embarked on their journey to learn more about testing, as SATRA is currently helping them to establish a new laboratory.

On to India

The SATRA team then transferred to Mumbai, India to exhibit at the OSH India 2016 health, safety and personal protective equipment show. This event has been growing annually, and for 2016 moved to the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Navi Mumbai – a better-appointed and more spacious venue than had previously been used. OSH India was a two-day event which proved to be very busy for SATRA, and generated many enquiries in regards to PPE testing and certification.

From Mumbai, we travelled to Agra to attend the Meet at Agra 2016 Leather, Footwear, Components & Technology Fair, where many SATRA members were exhibiting. This was also a busy fair, although some exhibitors reported fewer visitors than in previous years, attributing this to the impact on businesses of the restriction in the supply of currency at the time.

How can we help?

Members of the SATRA staff regularly attend exhibitions around the world, and find that this provides a fine opportunity to meet company representatives and explain how SATRA can help their business. Please email membership@satra.com to arrange a discussion of your specific requirements.
