Flexing and abrasion assessment updates
SATRA has technically reviewed and republished two test methods. SATRA TM92:1992 – 'Resistance of footwear to flexing' has been updated to reflect current testing procedure, and has become SATRA TM92:2016. This method is intended to assess the resistance of completed footwear to repeated flexing and is applicable to most types of footwear.
SATRA TM174:1994 – 'Abrasion resistance – rotating drum method' (used to determine the abrasion resistance of a material) has also been updated, as SATRA TM174:2016. This now contains two methods (numbered 1 and 2) to determine the volume loss of the specimen. Method 2 is a 2016 alternative, which measures displaced volume without reference to density.
