CAB meeting held in Cambodia
Footwear industry figures gather to discuss key issues.
The latest SATRA China Advisory Board (CAB) meeting was held at Hwa Long (Cambodia) Outsole Industry Ltd, in Kampong Cham Province. It was attended by representatives of the footwear industry and members of the SATRA team. SATRA China general manager Liam Donnelly provided an update on the latest developments in the SATRA Dongguan office, including achievement of United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation to ISO 17025, and expansion of general footwear testing equipment. In addition, SATRA chief executive Austin Simmons made a presentation introducing new X-ray scanning equipment that has been purchased in the UK, and explained its many benefits for members.
Kindly hosted by Hwa Long general manger Joyce Liu, the meeting included a tour of the manufacturing facilities where rubber outsoles and many other moulded components are produced, and where a variety of footwear constructions are made. Hwa Long has been operating since 2013 and is a subsidiary of Sherwood, which also owns Maru Chuen in Phnom Penh – a facility used for upper stitching, cementing and safety shoes produced by Goodyear welted construction.
While in Cambodia, CAB members visited Lin Wen Chi Sunbow Enterprises Co Ltd – a subsidiary of Fulgent Sun Group. Lin Wen Chi Sunbow Enterprises was established in 2013 and employs 5,000 people manufacturing 180,000 pairs of shoes per month. Hosted by company president Mark Lin, a factory tour was arranged for the CAB delegates, during which a number of footwear types were seen being manufactured. A visit was also made to Fulgent Sun's garment factory, Lin Wen Chih Sunstone.
