US footwear producer Skechers reported an increase in sales of 13.2 per cent during 2016 to $3.56 billion – a record annual performance for the company. According to chief executive Robert Greenberg, it had been 'another significant growth year', which had been driven by 'aggressive revamping of product lines'. He added that the increase of the company’s international sales was especially pleasing, and predicted that the success would continue in 2017 – the year in which Skechers celebrates its 25th anniversary.
In addition to the annual figure, the company also achieved record fourth quarter sales, which grew by 5.8 per cent to $764.3 million. David Weinberg, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, commented that this success was the result of a 17.1 per cent increase in its international wholesale business, with particularly strong sales being seen in China.
