Portuguese association elects new president
New APICCAPS president Luís Onofre is a third-generation shoemaker.
Designer and shoe producer Luís Onofre is the new president of Portuguese footwear industry association APICCAPS following elections at the end of April. He succeeds Fortunato Frederico, who had led the association for 18 years. Mr Onofre is the third generation of his family to run a shoe company which specialises in women’s high-end footwear. His customers have reportedly included Queen Letizia of Spain and former US First Lady, Michelle Obama.
Founded in 1975, APICCAPS is based in the city of Oporto. It represents the entire Portuguese footwear sector, including shoemakers, footwear components manufacturers and footwear equipment producers, as well as leathergoods companies making bags, wallets, gloves and belts.
