A special programme organised by Brazilian Shoe Manufacturers Association Abicalçados has reported positive results from its fifth commercial mission to Russia. Thirty-four Brazilian footwear companies shared in the event, which was held in Moscow for three days in June. A showroom was established in the Courtyard Marriot Hotel and some 300 business discussions were held with international buyers. More than 70 retailers and wholesalers reportedly expressed an interest in working with Brazilian brand owners. According to an Abicalçados spokesperson, the trade mission expects to generate around $4.1 million in business during the coming months.
“This fifth mission has exceeded our expectations in terms of numbers of participating brands and local visitors,” said Renata Ramos, project manager of Abicalçados. “It was an unprecedented partnership between Apex-Brasil (the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) office in Moscow, the Brazilian Embassy and Abicalçados.”
