Deichmann plans more UK stores
The company currently retails footwear from nearly 100 stores around the country.
Shoe retailer Deichmann is reported to be planning additional stores in the UK after revenue increased to £86.4m in the year to the end of December 2016, compared to £80.5m in the previous 12-month period.
The UK operation, which is based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, opened nine new stores during 2016. This brought its total number of branches around the country to 94. Deichmann Shoes UK is part of the shoe and sportswear retail group Deichmann SE, which is headquartered in the German city of Essen. The company was established in 1913, when Heinrich Deichmann opened a cobblers shop.
The first UK store opened in 2001, and, as with other countries where specific trends are taken into account, the UK’s range is individually adapted to its market conditions. Deichmann operates 3,857 stores in Germany, 23 other European countries and the USA, and employs over 38,200 members of staff. Worldwide, Deichmann aims to have opened 262 new retail premises during 2017.
