The Principles of fitting children’s footwear
Investigating the principles involved in developing healthy footwear for children.
It is essential that children’s footwear has good fitting properties, with enough room for some growth and to allow the foot to function correctly. A child will not be aware that his or her shoes are too tight, as the soft cartilage and immature joints that form the early foot can easily be compressed and distorted by slight pressure without causing pain. Many adults have foot problems that have been caused by wearing ill-fitting shoes as a child.
