OutDoor show moving to Munich
There will be rival outdoor sports shows in Germany next year.
The organisers of the OutDoor exhibition have announced that the event is to move to the German city of Munich in 2019. This summer’s fair will be the last held in Friedrichshafen, where it has been located for the past 25 years.
Members of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) voted to move the show to Munich rather than continue to hold it on the shores of Lake Constance. According to new exhibition organiser Messe München, Munich is an ideal location for trade events, and the venue in the Bavarian city which hosts the ISPO event in the winter will allow for future growth.
However, Klaus Wellmann – chief executive of Messe Friedrichshafen – reacted to the news by expressing great disappointment about the vote, and claimed that Friedrichshafen still has ‘good support’ from many EOG members and the backing of numerous outdoor industry players. Mr Wellmann stated that Messe Friedrichshafen will now develop a new and independent outdoor show for the summer of next year.
