Ageing leather to help assess the formation of chromium VI

Explaining the importance of assessing aged leather for this hazardous substance.

The recently published ISO 10195:2018 international standard defines thermal ageing conditions used to assess whether chromium VI is produced in a finished leather. It is estimated that more than 80 per cent of leather is tanned using chromium salts.
