Siro Badon is due to lead the Italian footwear manufacturers’ association Assocalzaturifici for the four-year period until 2023. He was elected by the association’s board in a meeting at the recent World Footwear Congress in Naples. Mr Badon will succeed current president Annaria Pilotti, following the expected confirmation of his appointment at the body’s annual general meeting in June, during the general assizes of the Italian Federation of Textiles, Fashion and Accessories.
Described as having had a lifelong career in footwear, Mr Badon currently leads the Associazione Calzaturieri Riviera del Brenta (a local footwear association in north-eastern Italy). He also owns the De Robert footwear company, located in Riviera del Brenta.
Assocalzaturifici is the national association representing industrial shoemakers in Italy – a sector that is said to produce over £12 billion (almost $16 billion) in annual sales, employs 77,000 people and exports 85 per cent of its production. The body currently has around 600 member companies.
