ISA TanTec to open additional tannery
Preparatory work for leather producer ISA TanTec’s second tannery in Vietnam is reported to be complete and all construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2019. The site is located in Tay Ninh Province, close to Ho Chi Minh City’s business hub and the group’s existing facility in Binh Duong Province. The first building phase of this new project has been designed to cover 28,500 square metres (306,770 square feet) and will involve the erection of manufacturing facilities, a canteen, a wastewater treatment plant and a workers’ dormitory, as well as the creation of parking spaces. According to an ISA TanTec spokesperson, plenty of room will be left for further expansion.
Announcing details of this new project, the company’s chief operating officer in Asia, Tiago Horn, added: “The floor layout of the new tannery is set up by following lean principles, based on a study led by Porsche Consulting and ISA. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) will be implemented from the beginning to collect smart data, which will lay the foundation for an Industry 4.0 approach.”
