Huntsman opens Dubai PU operation
The facility has been built to strengthen Huntsman’s supply to the Middle East and North Africa.
US-based Huntsman Corporation has started production in a new polyurethane systems house in Dubai. The purpose-built facility is located in the Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone (JAFZA), and has been designed to strengthen the company’s downstream capabilities in the Middle East and North Africa, thus increasing its capacity to produce polyester polyols and polyurethane systems for customers in the region.
According to Huntsman, the production area within the new systems house is equipped with the latest in manufacturing equipment, as well as blenders, filling stations, reactors, a control room, quality control laboratories and offices. The facility will produce substances for the footwear industry in addition to manufacturing polyurethane foams for appliance, bedding, construction, furniture and insulation applications, and prepolymers for adhesives, coatings, elastomers and sealants.
The company’s other downstream operations serving the Middle East include Huntsman EMA (a systems house in Turkey), and the Huntsman Arab Polyols Company in Saudi Arabia – a joint venture in which Huntsman is the majority shareholder.
