Under Armour appoints new CEO
Kevin Plank is relinquishing his current role at US-based sportswear producer Under Armour, having served as chief executive since he established the company 23 years ago. In January 2020, Patrik Frisk will become CEO and president, and will report to Mr Plank, who is to take up the joint roles of executive chairman and brand chief. Mr Plank will continue to lead Under Armour’s board of directors while focusing on the company’s brand representation, product elevation and team culture.
Patrik Frisk’s appointment comes after what has been described by Mr Plank as a ‘multi-year transition approach’. According to the founder, Mr Frisk was his partner during the most transformative chapter in the company’s history. Before joining Under Armour in 2017, Mr Frisk was chief executive of global footwear and accessories company the ALDO Group. His almost 30 years of experience in the apparel, footwear and retail industries also embraced more than a decade spent with VF Corporation, during which he held a number of leadership positions, including vice president and general manager of The North Face and president of Timberland.
