Polyester pledge from adidas
Sports group adidas has said that more than half of the polyester that goes into its products in 2020 will come from recycled plastic waste. It has also reiterated its commitment to use only recycled polyester from 2024 onwards “where a solution exists”.
This year, adidas plans to produce between 15 million and 20 million pairs of shoes with plastic waste collected from beaches and coastal regions. In 2019, it produced more than 11 million pairs of such shoes.
It said its aim is to avoid plastic waste and stop the pollution of the world’s oceans.
