Skechers logs record annual sales
Skechers overall sales grew by 23.1 per cent.
US footwear producer Skechers has announced record annual sales of $5.2 billion (£4.1 billion) in 2019, helped by highest-ever fourth quarter sales of $1.3 billion (£1 billion).
"2019 was a remarkable year for Skechers as we achieved four quarters of record sales," said the company’s chief executive, Robert Greenberg. "Our mission, as always, is to deliver style, comfort and innovation to the world. Our continued growth, along with the 27 product and brand awards we received in 2019, are evidence that we accomplished our goal."
Skechers sales grew by 23.1 per cent, due to a 31.2 per cent increase in the company’s international business and its domestic trade growing by 13.0 per cent. The fourth quarter figure represented the second-highest sales quarter in Skechers' history. Every region reported a double-digit boost, with international commerce representing almost 60 per cent of the company's total business for the quarter.
During the last quarter of the year, Skechers opened 21 wholly-owned stores and 219 third-party outlets. This brought the total numbers of Skechers retail facilities worldwide to 3,547.
