New MICAM show to be held in Las Vegas

Efforts are being made to introduce the MICAM show to the US market.

Italian footwear manufacturers association Assocalzaturifici has announced a partnership with the existing Magic footwear trade show to launch a new event in the USA. 'MICAM Americas' – a three-day international event entirely dedicated to the American market – is scheduled to open at the Las Vegas Convention Centre on 17th August 2020.

According to Siro Badon, chairman of Assocalzaturifici and MICAM, the organisational experience of two successful and well-established trade fairs will create a new business opportunity. He added that the possibilities offered by this new event are of considerable interest to Italian manufacturers, with the USA representing the fourth largest market for Italian-made footwear.

The recent 'MICAM in Wonderland' show held in Milan closed with a 5 per cent decrease in the numbers of visitors.

"The contraction we expected was confirmed,” said Mr Badon. “We saw a drop in the number of Asian buyers and a slowdown in British visitors due to transport difficulties – caused, as far as the former are concerned, by the public health emergency and, as regards the latter, by the extreme weather conditions. There was also a slight decrease in German buyers who are going through a difficult economic period – a scenario which is counterbalanced by an increase in buyers from Russia and the CSI area."
