Online searches from around the world during April for the phrases ‘best running shoes’ and ‘running shoes’ were up by 106 per cent and 163 per cent respectively, according to recent research by a UK-based internet sports footwear retailer.
These figures are unsurprising, following the worldwide closures of gyms in April due to the coronavirus pandemic. The report suggests that a growing number of people are turning to running the streets for their daily exercise – hence the growth in online searches for products to wear on their feet. The survey also examined data from 40 countries to determine the most-searched-for running shoes and so gain an in-depth understanding of current market trends. The top three models investigated by would-be purchasers were the adidas Ultraboost, the Nike React and the Nike Pegasus.
At the time of writing, many online retailers – both brand owners and distributors – are offering significant discounts of up to 75 per cent off the recommended prices of their running shoe collections.
