Boost for WWW online sales
The Merrell brand recorded a strong eCommerce performance.
According to Wolverine Worldwide (WWW), the US-based footwear and apparel company’s e-commerce grew by more than 90 per cent during the second quarter of 2020 when compared to the same period in the previous year. This delivered over 40 per cent of WWW’s revenue.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected the company’s wholesale trade around the world during the first nine weeks of the second quarter, total global revenue was actually down by less than 50 per cent compared to the same nine weeks in the previous year, despite the impact of widespread global store closures during April and May. Sales were therefore reportedly better than had been expected.
Founded in 1883, WWW’s portfolio includes Bates, Chaco, Hush Puppies, HYTEST, Keds, Merrell, Saucony, Sperry, Stride Rite and Wolverine. The company is also the global footwear licensee of the Cat and Harley-Davidson brands.
