VF supports healthcare worker charity
The VF Foundation – a division of VF Corporation – is to match donations for ‘Hero Recharge’, a US-based outdoor adventure programme designed to provide a break for frontline workers involved in the battle against COVID-19. To explain its decision to offer this aid, the Foundation highlights statistics from a study by the Journal of the American Medical Association indicating that some 72 per cent of healthcare workers surveyed reported symptoms of distress, with half of them citing depression, 45 per cent reporting anxiety and 34 per cent suffering from insomnia.
The Hero Recharge programme has been developed by a non-profit organisation in Colorado that for two decades has assisted young adults affected by serious illnesses to share in rock wall climbing, white-water rafting and other active experiences. At the time of writing, the scheme – which launched in late April – had received more than 10,000 enquiries from US healthcare workers and first responders.
